Who pays
Kurnl pays. For the promo months the customer’s monthly price and the wholesale price kurnl invoices the provider drop by the same amount. The reduction is capped at the line’s wholesale price, so a large fixed discount never turns the wholesale price negative. The provider’s margin does not change. The wholesale invoice carries one named negative line per subscription and month, labelled<name> (<code>). Both billing CSVs carry it too; see
Wholesale billing CSV.
The discount
There is no setup-fee override on an operator discount: the wholesale
invoice has no setup-fee line, so the provider would end up paying it.
A discount is archived, never deleted. Show archived and Restore
bring it back. A code that is archived stops working at once; lines that
already carry it keep it.
Where it runs
In the separate Applications dialog, add one application per building. Each has:- a start and an end date — the code works on orders placed from the start date to the end date, inclusive;
- an optional bar headline — free text for the announcement bar. Left empty, the bar reads Use code at checkout for off your first months of internet. A fixed monthly price reads …internet at $X a month. The bar’s Copy code button always carries the real code.
What the shopper sees
- An announcement bar above the navigation on that building’s storefront, dismissible for the session, with Copy code.
- Add a discount code in the checkout summary card. The breakdown reads −75.00, and the activation line shows the fee the order will charge.
When a code works
A code works on an order when all of these hold:- the order’s building has the discount applied, and today is inside the application’s dates;
- the plan’s provider takes part (see below);
- the plan is not a bulk plan;
- the plan is not an off-net (external) plan, and it has a wholesale price;
- the offer gives a promo price on that plan.
The provider’s switch
On the provider’s side, Billing → Discounts → Operator discounts has the switch Participate in operator discounts. It is on by default; a provider that turns it off is skipped: the code is refused on its plans.sp_admin and
sales logins can change it. The tab also lists the live or upcoming operator
discounts on the buildings the provider covers.
Partner-hosted checkout
When the provider’s checkout runs on a partner’s site, the shopper enters the code on kurnl before the hand-over. Kurnl keeps it on the session, passes it to the partner, and lowers its own wholesale price when the order completes. It cannot show the partner’s price. The partner is trusted to pass the discount on. The return page says the code was passed on. The API side is in Checkout sessions. A code that was valid at the hand-over is honoured at completion, even if its window ended in between. If the discount was archived meanwhile, it lapses: the order still goes through, at the campaign or list price.Counters
Every discount row shows:- Redemptions — lines that were created with it;
- Active lines — those still running it;
- Cost this month and to date — what kurnl has taken off the wholesale invoices.
